At Positive Regard Therapy (PRT) we offer affirming therapy that supports people who are trans, non-binary, genderqueer, gender-fluid, questioning or exploring gender in their own way. Our queer-owned practice is committed to providing a space where your identity is respected and where you never have to teach the basics or justify who you are.
Gender identity can be joyful, complex, confusing, liberating or all of the above. You deserve a therapist who understands what it means to move through the world in a body or identity that others may question or misunderstand. Our team approaches this work with curiosity, cultural humility and trust. Whether you are navigating transition, exploring dysphoria or euphoria or working through relationships, work stress or mental health concerns, we are here to support you on your terms.
All of the staff at PRT know what it feels like to be treated as othered or different in some way, whether through identity, sexuality, race or gender. That awareness shapes the care we offer and the respect we bring to every session.
Everyone deserves therapy that feels safe, grounded and affirming. Our therapists have
extensive experience supporting trans and gender-diverse clients and bring a blend of
clinical skill and cultural awareness to each session. We believe in collaborative work
that centers your goals and honors your identity.
Exploring gender identity or planning a transition can bring up many emotions. We
provide a non-judgmental space to talk about what feels right for you, at your pace and
without pressure. This may include social transition support, navigating medical options,
coping with dysphoria or finding more space for gender euphoria. Our goal is to help
you feel seen, validated and supported as you move toward a more authentic
expression of self.
Many trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people experience anxiety or low mood tied
to identity stress, family dynamics, work environments or systemic barriers. Together we
identify what is weighing on you and develop strategies grounded in evidence-based
practice to help you manage stress, regulate emotions and feel more steady day to day.
Healthy relationships matter. We support clients working on communication, boundary
setting, identity disclosure, intimacy and community connection. We also help clients
navigate dating while trans, open or polyamorous relationships and family dynamics
during or after transition. Therapy is tailored to your relationship structure and values.
Throughout your work with us you can expect:
