About Us

Positive Regard Therapy (PRT) is a team of mental health professionals who are committed to treating clients with “unconditional positive regard.” This means that we try our best to meet clients where they are, understand their experiences and help them meet their goals without judgement. PRT serves clients in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago. Our therapists specialize in LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy, working with college students & young adults, men’s issues and sex-positive counseling.

In addition, PRT offers a clinical training program for graduate-level pre-licensed therapists. As part of this program, we accept Aetna, BCBS PPO, Cigna and offer reduced rate / sliding fee sessions starting at $30. Seeing an pre-licensed therapist for a reduced rate, allows pre-licensed therapists to earn the hours they need for their program, and can be especially helpful for those who are unemployed, underemployed or do not have adequate health insurance.

Our therapists are seeing clients in-person at our Andersonville office or via telehealth.

To schedule a first session or get more information, please email hello@positiveregard.co or call our main office line at 773.570.2829.

Our Therapists

  • Bert Fox, LCPC

    (he/him)

I'm the founder and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) at Positive Regard Therapy. I graduated with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling which I completed after a successful 17 year career in corporate marketing. My clinical interests include: LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy (with a particular focus around issues affecting gay, bi or queer men), anxiety, depression, gender and sexual identity development and concerns around sex, relationships and intimacy.

  • Christina Bueno, MA

    (she/her)

As a Bilingual Latina, I became a counselor after years of working as a professor of Latin American History and Latinx/Latin American Studies. I began to notice that more and more students seemed to be experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression. After taking my first counseling course, I decided to become a professional in the field. My aim is to help empower clients. I create a supportive environment for individuals and am especially interested in working with students and young adults and professionals.

  • Dana Wierzbicki, LPC

    (she/they)

To me, the therapeutic relationship is what's at the heart of a meaningful experience in therapy-- a relationship where clients feel equally supported and respected whether they're talking about a proud achievement, a deep regret, or a fleeting moment. I think every person can relate to hiding parts of ourselves, our thoughts, and our lives out of a fear of being judged.

  • Erin Siegferth, MA

    (she/her)

I work with individuals and relationship partners of all kinds. My clinical interests include gender and sexual identity exploration, relationship and intimacy issues, trauma, transition-age young adulthood, and body acceptance. I consider myself kink-knowledgable and sex positive. When working with clients, I welcome consideration of the ways societal and cultural influences play out in our day to day lives.

  • Frank Floski, LCPC

    (he/him)

I enjoy working with other Queer individuals, as well as allies, and have a focus on those who are wanting to explore their relationship with sex. This could be a look at intimacy, sexual function and behavioral issues as well as trauma and shame. I also work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD and trauma backgrounds. Overall, my intention is to help people achieve a better understanding of their values and be able to accept and take control of their current situation.

  • Joie Wiener, LPC

    (they/them)

Joie is a proud member of the Queer, Neurodiverse, and Chronically Ill/ Disabled communities. They believe in nurturing and cherishing these identities (as well as all others!), and challenging social norms with the radical act of being yourself. Joie is a former social emotional and sexual health educator, and has worked with young people in various capacities for over 10 years. They’ve worked both in the schools and via Telehealth to provide therapy to children, adolescents, and emerging adults, focusing primarily on acute and complex trauma, neurodivergence, and gender/sexuality identity development.

  • Mike Unhoch, LCPC, ALMFT

    (he/him)

I work with individuals, couples, and relationships of all kinds (straight and LGBTQ+). I consider societal and cultural influences while helping clients to explore their relationship/intimacy issues, sexuality, identity, struggles with depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health concerns. I take a sex positive approach and am attuned to the needs of poly, non-monogamous, open, kink, and BDSM clients.

  • Sam Milstone, MA

    (he/him)

My practice with teens and adults often uses the tenets of geek therapy to employ my client’s hobbies and interests as safe context for their uncomfortable thoughts and feelings. My approach is client-centered, solution-focused, and feminist in its critical examination of our constructed lives and relationships. To find reasonable solutions to our problems, I find it important to contextualize our struggles within the oppressive weight of our cultural climate. I enjoy working with fellow LGBTQIA+ people and couples to celebrate our identities whether it be our queer sexuality, gender-queerness, ethnic identity, mental diagnoses, or neurodivergence.

  • Grace Gautier

    (she / they)

Therapy is a way to heal when the world has been unkind to us. As a trans woman of color, I have experienced my own healing journey and understand how tough a spot you’re in as you look for a new therapist. I work with an open heart and mind and want to meet whatever you’re facing alongside you.

  • Michael Brown

    (he/him)

As a Biracial Caribbean therapist, I am dedicated to making therapy accessible to all communities and reducing the stigma around mental health care. Through a compassionate and understanding therapeutic relationship, I aim to empower my clients to overcome cultural and societal barriers and achieve personal growth.

  • Steve Wasilczuk

    (he/him)
